Rose Quartz and Serenity.
Pantone, the Global authority on colour trends has recently launched its 2 shades of the year that will dominate everything in 2016. It’s very unusual for [Pantone] to launch 2 separate colours but this year they suggest that consumers are looking for mindfulness and well-being and that these two colours offer that in abundance.
Rose Quartz, a warm rose tone, and Serenity, a cool pale blue reflect the consumer demands for order and peace. They also challenge preconceived ideas of what is and isn’t complimentary colour.
Normal rules of colour suggest that opposites do not necessarily compliment each other, but in this case the exact opposite works, the soft and cool tones harmonise and create a delicate blend that still has an element of disruption to it.
What does it mean for the consumer, simply put it means we can expects to see variations of the two tones in most of the fashions and jewellery in the coming months. There may be a splash of both in certain patterns and fabrics, there will definitely be a play on the tones in jewellery and both shades lend themselves very well to being accessorised and complimented by darker colours. Alternatively, the tones may be strengthened and used in amongst paler backdrops, a classic example of this is shown here in one of our latest collection of scarves new in stock right now which very much using influences of the tones suggested by pantone!
Pantone suggest these shades will be so popular because we are moving (as a society) toward a more unilateral approach to colour, especially as a form of expression. Rose Quartz is a gentle tone yet it has strong undertones, whereas Serenity is weightless and suggests relaxation.
