I caught up with Gail recently and asked her about the decision making process she has gone through whilst selecting the brands you find here at OceanJ.
To my surprise some of the reasoning behind the selection of brands was different to what I was expecting.
“Colour” says Gail…. “It was the driving force behind a lot of the choices I made when visiting trade events and exhibitions looking for the products I wanted to carry on-line”.
Followers of the Ocean jewellery website will have seen various posts about colour on the blog pages of the site, so it came as no real surprise, however, texture, shape and form did!
“I decided to add different textures, shapes and forms to the OceanJ site so as to give the shopping experience a multi dimensional quality. That’s why the site has jewellery of varying styles, from the sheer simplicity of Kelim to the extravagant colour-ways of Hazel Atkinson and the luxurious textured jewellery Ayala Bar creates… to name just a few! Then I looked at scarves and accessories, with delightful patterned socks from Powder, to the luxurious scarves of Shalls and the fabulous multi textured pashmina’s from Cashmere Rebel”
I then asked about the new additions to the portfolio, products that are new to Gail and her loyal clients.
“One of the things that was an absolute must was the maintaining of successful brands, Katie Loxton, Bessie London, Lily Flame, Joma and Bobby Black to name a few. Ocean jewellery clients loved these brands so it was a fundamental must to keep them as part of our on-line emporium. Alongside these brands we have added new names such as Magpie, an eclectic, colourful mix of bags and home-wares. Miho is another new venture for us, this range caught my eye and I knew I wanted it as part of the site because it is so colourful and eclectic that it brings an entirely new dimension to our portfolio of brands”.
“Over the coming months we will see lots of exciting articles about the brands we are carrying and I hope that the new brands become as firm a favourite with our clients as the existing brands are”
So there you have it, Gail has opted for Colour, Texture, Shape and Form as some of the key pointers in choosing the selection OceanJ provides. Add to that the affordable quality that Gail and her business are renowned for, plus the introduction of ‘luxury goods’ into the portfolio and it would seem that a winning formula has been created.
