About OceanJ

Gail McKill, owner and founder of OceanJ says….
“When I started Ocean Jewellery in 2004 in a shop in Edinburgh’s Grassmarket, I never dreamt that it would develop into the store it became on Lothian Road just 5 years later in 2009. Now, it’s 2018 and our exclusive online emporium, which was launched in May 2017, is growing into a favourite with many people and we are seeing customers returning time and time again”.

The saying goes: ‘mighty oaks from little acorns grow’ and this is certainly true for OceanJ. Initially Ocean Jewellery carried a few, select, designer jewellery brands, but as it grew, and moved to Lothian Road the collections expanded to clothes, scarves and handbags.

The name ‘OceanJ’ pays homage to the original ‘Ocean Jewellery’ and the aim is to bring some familiar brands along with designers from across Europe and beyond whose collections are simply stunning, stylish and affordable that are fresh and new. The shop was a lovely space, with lots of colour and light, and the new website has a similar feeling with an abundance of colour.

Gail says…
“Colour has always been important to me and being able to bring it to life makes us feel happy, free and confident, whether it’s in a piece of jewellery or a lovely new handbag, it always makes a statement. I love meeting new designers as well as keeping relationships with old ones, that’s why I’m confident that OceanJ online shopping will be an experience that the customer feels comfortable with”

About Gail

It was a dream come true in 2004 when Gail opened Ocean Jewellery, having always had a love of jewellery and a great eye for style and design. She worked in the family business for almost 20 years, an Edinburgh based Timber Merchant, where she gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in retail. In 2004 Gail decided to start her own business and over the last 12 years her love of bringing together beautiful things hasn’t waned. Now the new challenge of doing it exclusively online is a venture she is relishing. In her spare time if Gail isn’t walking with her Cocker Spaniel she can be found in East Lothian enjoying her favourite sport, golf or travelling the world always on the lookout for new exciting designers.

About Emil

Our Social Media Caretaker, originally a hairdresser, Emil moved into education training many years ago, working with hairdressing product companies. He now works independently for customer focussed businesses, offering support and mentoring to owners and staff alike. Emil also uses his ‘creative’ skills writing articles and looking after social media on behalf of companies that offer online shopping experiences. His understanding of social platforms and retailing make him an excellent addition to the OceanJ team.
